Jazz Club
This piece was commission by a woman in Portland who grew up going to jazz clubs with her father. A nod to wonderful memories and a piece of art for her to cherish forever.
The Quiet Side of the Tetons
A couple is missing their mountain cabin in Idaho. After a wonderful collaboration, together we created a this painting. They now enjoy The Grand Tetons while living in the big city.
A large part of Katy’s work is devoted to commissioned paintings–portraits and landscapes. Collaboration is a unique opportunity to interact with the artist and to be part of the creative process. A commissioned painting blends the client’s inspiration with the artist’s style and vision: The piece might be a dynamic family portrait to energize a space or a sentimental daydream landscape to escape to a special memory. Katy enjoys working with her clients. She values their input and is sensitive to their expectations. Together, they will brainstorm ideas for a piece, from a story and reference photos, from there, Katy forms ideas into a series of pencil sketches. As she works out the elements of the composition, she refines the sketches into 3 preliminary drawings. One drawing is chosen, and the painting begins!
Commission Process
1. Connect with me through email or contact page.
2. We will set up a time for a quick phone chat or email conversation and discusses what you envision in your piece. Style, color palette, size etc.
3. Based on our conversation I will provide you with an outline that includes the estimated cost, timeline and any additional details we have discussed.
4. To confirm your commission a signed agreement and a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total cost will be required upfront. The deposit covers initial supply expenses and secures your spot on my schedule.
5. Design process can begin. With some collaboration, I will compose three designs using inspiration of your choice. The drawing you select will be a jump off point for the painting.
6. Artwork is complete. I will send image for approval. Remaining cost of 50% plus any remains fees will be due. Once payment is received I will deliver painting or ship to you.
Commissions pricing starting at $500
Custom floating wood frame can be added to any painting for additional fee
